Littleton, NH - September 15th through the 19th marks the 9th Annual National Health IT Week. National Health IT Week (NHIT Week) is a collaborative forum and virtual awareness week that assembles key healthcare constituents dedicated to working together to elevate the necessity of advancing health through the best use of information technology. Health IT, specifically electronic health records (EHRs), improve the quality of healthcare delivery, increase patient safety, decrease medical errors, and strengthen the interaction between patient and healthcare providers, and shows why Health IT is helping to quietly advance medicine.
At Littleton Regional Healthcare, the IT team has been instrumental in transitioning to electronic health records to improve the patient experience at LRH. Other information technology advancements that the LRH IT team has put in place in the past year include rewiring of the Hospital's communications network, upgrade of the data storage system, and system wide installation of Dragon Medical 360 Dictation software for LRH physicians.
In addition to the major projects listed, LRH's IT team completed services required for LRH to attest to Meaningful Use II. In order for hospitals and physician practices to attest to Meaningful Use Stage I & II they must meet several core and menu measures as outlined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
